Are You Experiencing Pain From
An Ovarian Cyst? |
If you've
recently started to feel symptoms such as pain in your
pelvic region or have noticed changes in your menstruation
then you may want to consider if you are suffering from pain
from ovarian cyst. Growth of cysts on the ovaries is
something that happens to a lot of women and thankfully they
are very rarely cancerous and in most cases they will go
unnoticed. They tend to grow for a few weeks then disappear,
however some can become large or have other complications
such as twisting the ovary or becoming
ruptured.
These complications occurring are
what can tend to cause pain from ovarian cyst and the
symptoms are easy to spot if you have a rough idea what
to look for. One of the most common symptoms woman can
experience is pressure and bloating in the abdomen,
especially when the cysts grow large. They may also find
difficulty passing urine properly and also increased need
to go to the toilet due to pressure on the bladder and
bowels caused by the cyst. Pain from intercourse is also
quite common as is weight gain. Periods can also become
quite abnormal in terms of timing and the heaviness of
bleeding. If you notice any of these symptoms or
additionally have more generalized symptoms such as
fever, vomiting, sudden abdominal pain, fainting,
dizziness and weakness then you should of course seek
help immediately.
If you are planning to visit your doctor about
your pain from ovarian cyst, then what kind of advice can
you expect? In some cases, he may advise to simply wait
and see what happens without any course of action and see
if the cyst gets bigger. In more extreme cases, the
doctor may recommend surgery to remove the cyst. This
would be due to it becoming larger, causing a lot of pain
and not disappearing after several menstrual cycles.
Another less extreme treatment for pain from ovarian
cyst, would be to prescribe a course of birth control
pills since stopping ovulating lessens the chance of new
cysts forming.
